#182 - Honey Bun Cake SUYL

I decided for today's post I would share this recipe again! Kelly is hosting a breakfast recipe for SUYL so I thought I'd share this Honey Bun Recipe!

This is a dessert recipe, but it delicious for a breakfast item also!
THE HONEY BUN CAKE!!! (Pictures below)
*1 package yellow cake mix
*3/4 cup vegetable oil
*4 eggs
*1 (8 ounce) container sour cream
*1 cup brown sugar
*1 tablespoon ground cinnamon

Frosting:
*2 cups confectioners powdered sugar
*4 tablespoons milk
*1 tablespoon vanilla extract

Preheat oven to 350’ degrees. (325' for glass pans)
In a large mixing bowl, combine cake mix, oil, eggs and sour cream. Mix with a mixer or you can stir by hand approximately 50 strokes, or until most large lumps are gone. Pour half of the batter into an ungreased 9x13 inch baking dish. Combine the brown sugar and cinnamon, and sprinkle over the batter in the cake pan. Spoon the other half of the batter into the cake pan, covering the brown sugar and cinnamon.

Bake in preheated oven for 40 minutes.
Poke holes in the cake and frost while it is still warm.

*To make the frosting: In a small bowl, whisk together the confectioner's sugar, milk and vanilla until smooth.

It truly is one of the easiest cakes I have ever made and it is so so so yummy :P
Pour half of the batter and spread it on the bottom.

Top that with the brown sugar and cinnamon mixture.

Then spread the rest of the batter on top of this and bake.

You can also take a butter knife and swirl the cake before you bake it to give it that "official" honey bun look :)

Whip up the icing while the cake is baking.

While the cake is still warm poke holes all over it and then pour the icing over the top.

I asked Brian to take a picture while I was pouring the icing and my camera was set on continuous shooting so it sounded like the paparazzi was taking my picture. I think he took about 20 pictures :o) I had to stop pouring a couple of times because I was laughing so hard :D

Here is the finale! Very tasty!

#181 - One Year Ago

On this day a year ago we were on our way to Panama (the country). It's so hard to believe that it's already been a year! In fact, another team is on their way right now. Our pastor, youth pastor, our friend Amanda, and a couple of others were part of this years mission team. We are praying that we can go again and maybe even take the girls with us next time.

Getting ready for our flight from Atlanta to Panama City, Panama!

I miss these sweet little faces :)

Here is our mission team with Pastor Ricardo and his family that we worked with. Please remember Pastor Ricardo and his sweet wife in your prayers. We found out today that they are sick right now and I know that they've got lots of stuff planned for the mission team on their way!

We were very blessed to go on that trip last year and it'll be an experience that I'll always hold dear to my heart. If you want to see our posts from our trip you can click HERE!

#180 - Tuesday

This week I'm helping out at the real estate office while our office manager is on vacation and it's been a busy one!

Anna made our dessert after dinner and then we had a little visitor: Miss Bella and Nana came over to visit with us. She was saying, "hi" everytime she saw the phone. She is just too cute and growing up way too fast! She was drinking out of one of the girls' old sippy cups and we had a few flashbacks.

On a side note: I ordered something tonight and I can't wait to share what it is, but I'll wait until it comes in! :)

Psalm 138:8
"The LORD will perfect that which concerns me;
Your mercy, O LORD, endures forever;
Do not forsake the works of Your hands."

#179 - Swim Meet #2

Anna had her second swim meet tonight! It stormed right before the meet was scheduled to begin, but after a short delay we were able to start.

She placed 2nd in the freestyle! So proud of her!

Brian and the girls after Anna was finished. One of Holly's teeth just fell out tonight while we were at the pool. You can tell in this picture she is feeling of it with her tongue! :)

Psalm 16:9
"Therefore my heart is glad, and my glory rejoices;
My flesh also will rest in hope."

#178 - Sunsets of Wonder

We have had the best easy going and laid back weekend! This next week is gonna be busy and I'm glad we've had this time to rest. Tonight after church and supper I glanced out the window and saw this:

I just love colorful sunsets! It's as if God is just showing us a teeny tiny glimpse of how magnificant heaven is going to be.

Psalms 19:1
"The heavens declare the glory of God;
the skies proclaim the work of His hands."

#177 - Grilling and Such

We've had a very low key, laid back Saturday. The girls and I cleaned this afternoon and then we grilled out some burgers and hot dogs tonight. It was our first time this year and it was yummy!
I even made some potato salad :)
We were stuffed, but we still found some room for some watermelon!

Looking forward to an even lower key Sunday!!!
A big praise - our youth from church got back safely from their mission trip to Mississippi!

"For so the LORD said to me,

“ I will take My rest,
And I will look from My dwelling place
Like clear heat in sunshine,
Like a cloud of dew in the heat of harvest.”

#176 - If You're Missing a Red Relay for Life Balloon...

We were headed out back to play a game of ladder ball with the girls tonight when Brian noticed something red laying in our yard. He went to get it and it was a Relay for Life balloon!

I am so curious to know where it came from! There is no city or info printed on it. I've always wondered how far balloons travel when we let them go. I've never had one to actually land in our yard ~ so neat!

Psalm 31:24
"Be of good courage,
And He shall strengthen your heart,
All you who hope in the LORD."

#174 & #175 - Three Years is a Long Time!

June 2008 our family traveled to Pass Christian, Mississippi to help a team of builders from Alabama rebuild a church that had been destroyed by Hurricane Katrina. Two different families from our church have helped this team for years and that year we were able to go. It was a great trip and we made some lifelong friends. The girls met some sweet girlies from Alabama and they've been penpals ever since! That same team was in Pikeville, KY this past week building a church and we couldn't go for the entire week, but we left Wednesday afternoon to visit a couple of days with them.
Here are the girls in June of 2008!

And here they are reunited!

Three years is a long time!

We stayed at a hotel in Pikeville and they still had keys for their rooms!

After checking into our hotel we headed to the church to see everybody!
Then Wednesday night we went to the service in the partially built church.
The hotel was a little older, very clean, but somewhat dated.
Holly said she felt like she was in jail because of the concrete walls. :)
Thursday morning we let the girls swim for a couple of hours and spend some time together. There was this really cool slide at the pool.
There was an old cemetary up on a hill beside the church they were building and most of the graves were from the 19th century. It was neat!
Brian helping out!

Here is the front of the new church building.

And a picture of the old church building.

Thursday afternoon we helped some of the ladies do some laundry for the youth boys. Please let me say that if I never smell teenage boys dirty laundry ever again I'll be a happy lady! Sshheww!
Before we left Thursday night. Hopefully it won't be another three years before we see these sweet faces in person!

#173 - Sweet Feet

I was able to take pictures of our sweet sister-in-Christ's new baby girl this morning! She was absolutely precious! Her mommy is the one that had the heart from the shadow of the trees to show up on her belly during her maternity pics a few weeks ago!

And here is a little peak at what I got to see today:)

She is a really pretty baby and they even let me hold her. I'm having baby fever big time!

I want to get a hold of my new little niece and nephews!!!

Teach me Your paths."

#172 - Anna's First Swim Meet

Anna had her first swim meet tonight and she did so good! We are very proud of her!

I just love the action shots!

So proud of her! She raced in 4 different races and she got 2-5th place, 1-6th place, and 1-7th place ribbons! Pretty good for her very first meet!
She has a really pretty butterfly stroke.
Love this one!

Such determination. :)

#171 - Father's Day 2011

Happy Father's Day to my wonderful hubby!!! I am so grateful that God allowed for me to marry him and for blessing us with two precious daughters.

We went by Brian's dad's house, but I didn't get a picture :( But before we left my dad's house I made sure I snapped one:) I am thankful for my dad and the unconditional love he has always given me.
After our visits I made Brian and the girls stand out front for a photo shoot :D

So they thought they'd be funny and all move in different directions:
But the joke's on them, because I am totally posting those pictures! Ha!
I love 'em!
